About Us

Formerly known then as the house of prayer, afm upper room church was founded in may 2008 with just a number of 12 people consisting of mostly student pastors at the auckland park theological seminary, johannesburg. Upper room was a result of the english service which was established by pastor ntokozo and other pastors after a gap was discovered that there was only an afrikaans service at the church. Today, the church has climbed from 12 congregants to reaching the numbers, achievements and developments it has obtained over the years due to long hours of heated and spirit filled prayer sessions. Afm upper room is now led by pastor nkanyiso ngcobo who was formally ordained in 2012 and has since been the leader of the church to date.

Testimonies

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

"Good afternoon. My name is Brilliant Khumalo a 3rd year student at UJ Apk residing at Joburg CBD rissik street. I've been coming to the church from the 4th of September 2018 but never had a chance to introduce myself properly, part of the reason to this is I left immediately after church that day I had to rush somewhere. Another reason is that I'm scared🙈. There are two things that made me stay, 1. When I came in I saw a banner hanging written "AFM upper room, home for all" just those words made me feel welcomed before anyone said anything to me. 2, that very day was the day of the Lord's Supper, the spirit of God that was hovering over that day I knew I've found what I've been looking for since I came to Joburg. And well the rest is history. I've been meaning to deliver my testimony and formally introduce myself to the congregation ever since but fear got the better of me. I am saved, a born again Christian but slowly I've driften from grace I believe part of the reason is the company I keep and a lot other personal issues I'm not ready to talk about but the reason why I'm writing this here now is to say "hey I'm here part of you". Since this lockdown I've been missing the worship team (oh they sing beatifully with anointed voices). I miss hearing the voice of God through his servant our pastor. Popular names I know from church includes amongst others: Zola, Mohale, Zakhele, Songezo or something, I forgot the lady who usually reads the bible for us.🙈 Ngyanithanda bazalwane"
